Another Tragedy: Top Lagos Socialite, Toto Abuga, Adedibu;Molete Giant Fall...

HOW IBADAN POLITICAL WAR LORD, LAMIDI ADEDIBU REALLY DIED
Wednesday June, 11 2008- Ibadan,Oyo state Political war lord- Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu breathed his last.
The occurrence reportedly transpired in the afternoon of the fateful day.
Detailing the manner of his death- sources maintained the generally acknowledged strong man of Ibadan Politics had gone to the Oyo State office of the Nigeria Service Agodi, Ibadan to perfect his travelling documents.
Insiders claimed the move was to enable him travel abroad for the proper medical care of the protracted ailment ravaging his system.
Those in the know maintained weeks before his death the larger than life politician had been fighting a losing battle with Diabetes- with some claiming cancer was involved as well.
‘ Baba had gone to perfect his travelling documents, when the officials in charge insisted he had to come in person before they could attend to you’ a source disclosed.
Information pieced together further revealed that for reasons yet to be established- the political war lord had slumped at the immigration office. And, lapsed into a coma.
Informants maintained immediately his top aide- who incidentally was with him had rushed him to the University Teaching Hospital Ibadan where was confirmed Brought In Dead On Arrival.
This much was confirmed by Mr Adeniyi Olanipekun- the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee of UCH.
The man who acted as spokes person for the medical centre however claimed despite the fact that he was dead on arrival- professionals at the place still went on to administer life saving on him to no avail.
The authorities at UCHY were however not willing to give a concrete reason as the cause of death- maintaining that the deceased was never a regular patient at the place-so his medical history was not available to form an opinion. And, that aside this the family had requested that no post mortem be carried out.
This development had led to multiple speculations about the cause of death from different quarters- with many attributing it to the extra ordinary politicians protracted battle with the ailment known as Diabetes.
Insiders especially linked this summation to claims that before the immediate occurrence that led to his death- the man dubbed ‘PDP in Oyo state’ was hospitalised at St Nicholas Hospital Lagos.
He was said to have been and off and on patient at the place when the ailment started giving him uncontrollable discomfort some five weeks back.
The move to become a patient at St Nicholas was reportedly perfected by his federal Lawmaker son, Kamorudeen Adedibu- with the backing of his political son, Governor Adebayo Alao Akala and a handful of intimate associates.
The move was reportedly kept a close knit affair between those in the know.
Investigations conducted by Street Journal further revealed that when no noticeable improvement was observed in him- the idea to ferry him out of the country for advanced medical care was sanctioned by the group- it was in the process of executing the move that the man generally described as a law in himself in Oyo State gave up the ghost.
He was buried amidst intense gnashing of teeth and uncontrollable wailings by friends, fans and associates at is Molete Ibadan, Oyo State abode on Thursday June 12 2008.
The burial held in absence of his political son and Governor of Oyo State Alao Akala[ he was in France with Mr President attending state matters] was put together with the concerted efforts of the state government represented by the Deputy Governor-Mr Taofeek Arapaja, the family with Kamorudeen Adedibu as stand in and close associates represented by the Aare Musulimi of Nigeria Alhaji Azeez Arisekola Alao.
The late giant political figure will be very much remembered for his in comparable philanthropy to the down trodden and un rival feat of successfully establishing three government administration in succession in Oyo State.
His most famous political battle saw him ousting former Governor Rasheed Ladoja from office- after he publicly declared it was a done deal.
Though the latter was later re installed by the supreme court- the late Chief Lamidi Adedibu had the last laugh when he snatched the Party’s re- election ticket from him and gave it to his then deputy- now the Governor of the state Adebayo Alao Akala.
As at the time of the death, the champion political gladiator had virtually sent former Governor Ladajo into political oblivion- and was setting the stage for another political battle with a factional caucus of his Peoples Democratic Party when death came calling.
However contrary to speculations in some quarters- as at press time no violence trailed his death- but caution and shock all over his Ibadan, Oyo State domain and the neighbouring states.

DRUG BARON, TOTO ABUGA ASSASSINATED IN LAGOS.
The drug war in the polity has taken a frightening dimension. One of the key player in the trade and flamboyant socialite- Lukman Olatunji popularly called Toto Abuga was reportedly shot dead by unknown gun men on Sunday June 08 2008.
The gun men were said to have attempted to make the dastard act look like an Armed Robbery attack- but sources claim two pointer gave away their game.
They did not take a penny away from the scene- and, the other individual with the deceased at the time of the incident, his driver named Femi was left un touched.
Insiders disclosed to Street Journal that both Femi and Abuga where cruising in the late socialites Sports Utility Vehicle when the gun men waylaid them.
‘ The funny thing was that Abuga was driving and not the driver. From what we learnt they way laid them along Alapere in Ketu told the driver to get out and shot Abuga point blank before taking off. That shows you they knew who they wanted to kill’ source analysed
What further strengthened the believe of those banding the assassination tale about is the fact that the late deep pocket fan of Fuji Musician K-1 De Ultimate[ Wasi Ayinde Marshal] just returned from his base in London when the incident occurred.
‘Infact he was yet to go home. He just told the driver that came to pick him to allow him drive and that one sat beside him in the passenger seat. From the Airport he headed for Ketu, he was yet to get to wherever he was going before he was gunned down. Obviously those people trailed him from the Airport and all that’ another source maintained.
Immediately the gun men fled the scene- informants divulged the Driver immediately rallied sympathisers and rushed the Deep pocket to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja.
He was however reported to have died due to injuries sustained from gun wounds on arrival at the Hospital.
The news of his death at about 11.p.m was said to have attracted throngs of sympathisers to the place that night- with many ending up staying over night at the place.
Insiders revealed news of his demise threw his wife,Biola and children into great grief- especially taken into consideration the fact that he died just 24hours to one of his son’s Birthday in London.
According to a source’ he was actually supposed to wait for the celebration but left for Nigeria earlier for what he labelled business reasons’
The remains of the man said to wield enormous influence in the Drug world was interred at Ikoyi Cematary on Thursday June 12 2008.
Among those were on hand to pay there last respect to him were Sati Ramoni, Mudashiru Odetunde, Yusuf Asabari, Seun Kosey, Queen Salawa Abeni and a whole lots of others.
More than one thousand people were said to have besieged the burial that had Musician Wasiu Ayinde described as bosom friend of the deceased as Chief Mourner.
K-1 De Ultimate as popularly called by friends was said to be all over the place doing his best to ensure a successful burial despite the heavy grief he felt.
Virtually all those at the burial where described as shedding tears.
Before his death, Toto Abuga was the toast of many musicians- particularly Wasiu Ayinde- he rose to public infamy with his drug deals when he got entangled with the anti drug agency NDLEA during the reign of Ishaya Bamaiyi. He was detained at the place for days in end.
When later released after weeks on end- he embraced a slightly more low profile flashy lifestyle- but continue to flourish in his illicit trade to such an extent that he was whisper as one of the biggest exporter of ‘hard drugs’ in this part of the world- but was so smooth with his operations that the authority had no tangible hold on him
With a tidy number of properties and automobiles to his name home and abroad- informants maintained he is survived by aged parents, siblings, three children- his current wife, Biola- Nee Oredeyin and divorced mother of his son-Monisola.
